With more than a decade of experience as a leader in major American orchestras, a soloist, chamber musician, and teacher, I bring a wide range of knowledge in music and violin study to my students. My goal is to help each student reach their personal best on the instrument. While studying the violin can be very challenging, students benefit from quality, efficient practicing methods that also encourage imagination through music. Demonstration plays a key role in helping them both hear and understand the differences I describe. Students are encouraged to view the violin as a tool for their own thoughts and expression. Lessons focus on enhancing technique in more efficient ways, exploring different musical styles, and engaging with a wide variety of repertoire. Above all, students gain a deeper understanding of the fundamentals of the instrument and continue improving their overall ability to play.

 

          Every student is unique, and I tailor my teaching to meet each individual’s needs to make sure that they receive the right pace of learning and the support necessary for their growth. Performance is one of the most important learning opportunities one can have. Students often learn their mistakes and improve their skills significantly after a performance. I have resources to provide venues and pianists to offer recital opportunities and help my students to gain more confidence in playing. 

 

         My goal is for students to build good habits of learning through self-discipline while developing the essential violin techniques that allow them to explore a variety of repertoire while also having fun. Along the way, they will understand different composers and musical styles across various periods and will be encouraged to think independently about their own musical ideas. I also want every student to experience performing in different setting whether as a soloist, in chamber music, or within an orchestra. This will help them grow as versatile and confident musicians.
